Overview Plastic surgery for the massive weight loss patient is often complex and challenging both for the surgeon and the patient. With the right team of doctors these patients can be transformed and rejuvenated completing the last step towards becoming a healthier, fitter person. Doctors Mackay and Nunn have developed a “team” approach to the care of these patients both in and out of the operating room in order to maximize patient safety and provide improved surgical outcomes. With the help of an experienced office staff, operating room staff and two full time surgical physician assistants, every aspect of the care of these patients are addressed. Experience gained from other plastic surgery centers across the country has shown that reducing operative times by using multiple surgeons and surgical assistants can improve safety and reduce post-operative morbidity related to hypothermia, blood loss, fluid imbalance and DVT.
